In the Greenlight: Meet Brian Lind, VP of Product Strategy

Welcome back to one of our favorite blog series In the Greenlight, where you can get an inside glimpse into the Koupon team! We’ve never been much to brag, but we think our team is pretty incredible and they deserve their time in the spotlight. This month we sat down with Brian Lind, our Vice President of Product Strategy.

Meet Brian! This talented leader and new dad has been intrinsic in building fully-integrated, long-term partnerships with our amazing clients by helping them build valuable solutions to reach shoppers. We're so excited to help you get to know this amazing Kouponeer! 

You've been at Koupon for seven years now and during that time you've worn several different hats. What has been the most challenging? Your favorite?

The great part of working at a company the size of Koupon, that has the level of clientele we do, is that every role is challenging. We expect a lot of each other and are all counting on each other to improve every day. My favorite, and most challenging role, is my current role leading strategy.

Will you walk us through a day in the life of the Vice President of Product Strategy?

As part of my role, I manage a team in charge of solutions, implementation, and support. What this means is my team is in charge of understanding the clients' request, designing the best outcome with our technologies, and insuring that goes live as quickly as possible. With the team I work with I get a great view of both the day to day minutia but also the sweeping changes and requests we see across our brand and retail customers – weaving all that together is the best part of my day.

Are there any specific client attributes important for forming fully-integrated, long-term partnerships?

There are plenty. Koupon performs best when our clients perform best, and there are three critical factors to consider when helping our clients over-perform. We have to be very conscious on growing the audience of available consumers via things like email, sms, and other targeted marketing driving users toward the coupons. Then, once users are in the funnel, we need to ensure that both the user experience and the offer content is best in class.

Can you give us a sneak preview of any new product updates coming down the pipeline?

We continue to roll out solutions to help retailers and brands serve the best offers available to the right consumers, without having to pass any of those business rules down to the brands and retailers. These targeting and consumer preference features will continue to change the way companies are able to build personal relationships with c-store shoppers at any outlet.

Congratulations on recently becoming a dad! What was the greatest parenting advice you received from a fellow Kouponeer?

Get in all the cuddles while you can before they get wiggly.

Aside from parenthood, what is keeping you busy outside of work?

A few years ago my wife and I moved into a house built in 1950 that hadn’t been touched since maybe 1983! So, we’ve been gradually working on it room by room. I’ve gotten pretty good at fun stuff like installing drywall, plumbing + electrical, hanging windows. We are almost done with the inside now and are about to start conquering the yard.
